Races, Cultures, Prejudice

I've always wanted to write an entry about all the observations I had in Hong Kong and my 4 years in Manchester, citing all the prejudice among yellows and whites and browns and blacks. At one point I even wanted to join the International Students Awards for which you have to write an article about your experiences as an International Student.

One can write about his volunteering experience as a student, of course, like the winner in 2009. I will never attempt to take anything away from the winners, because chances are I will not make it past first round with my lackluster CV. But honestly, if you go on the stage to talk about something you can do in your home country, it's a waste of your international experience.

Well, I'm fine. I'm just disppointed they didn't take the awards to another level - it was like saying "As a Chinese international student, I had Chinese food at Chinatown!"

There's nothing bigger than cultural understanding. There's nothing like coming to a foreign country and teaching yourself things aren't as the propaganda depicts.

This would have been a 4000-word article I would have written last Christmas. But I never had the inspiration or time to do it.

Neither do I now.

So, let this be a little teaser for you.
